In June 2009, Pastor's Jack Harris and Jim Lewis traveled to Dahuk Northern Iraq where the second annual Bible Conference was held. A tremendous time was had in Iraq with Pastor Layth's new Church facility in Dahuk, along with Pastor Labib from Al Kush, as well as Pastor Zamir and his family from the city of Zaho on the Turkish Iraq of border.
The second night of the conference two elderly gentlemen from the city of Al Kush where Nahum the Old Testament prophet is buried came to the service and responded to the gospel and gave their life to Christ. They attended all of the meetings of the conference. It was exciting to see them come and get saved, especially being older in life and having lived in the Middle East all of these years and being subjected to religion and then responding to the truth. We were really encouraged by that!
We are excited about all God is doing. Jack Harris is still working there in Iraq. He has received the earth block machine and working in the Passe village . The people of Passe Village have had their homes destroyed four different times during the Kurdish conflict with Saddam's Iraq.
Pastors Jack and Jim were able to visit Egypt the week prior to arriving in Iraq, seeing what God is doing in the city of Cairo. They were able to minister in the Assemblies of God and Presbyterian Churches. Jack also spoke in two home Churches. One of them located in what is known as "Garbage City". Garbage City is located inside Cairo and its population is 98% Christian. This location and the people that live there make their living by separating the garbage. However, in the midst of that there is a home church and God is moving in Egypt.
Someone recently asked Pastor Jim why he goes to the Middle East, stating that "they're Muslim countries and you're not going to do any good over there". Jim responded by saying that we are working with Christians there. But the reality is that even if there is a small percentage of those in the Middle East that give their life to Jesus Christ, the Bible says that "The value of one soul is greater than the riches of the entire world". We believe in World Evangelism; we believe in the Great Commission, and we are willing to make our investment to go to these nations and these places, leaving the results in the hands of God. He has simply called us to go.
We want to thank you for your prayers. We want to thank you for your interest in the Missions works that we are doing out of our local church.
